Partly in, partly out, they stand inside a shelter with protective umbrellas. Cottages and the ocean behind fix their location on one coast or the other. Toy lions line up, along with a mysterious box in front of them. A wall, patterned like a game-board my children used to play with, separates them from the beach, as they politely engage each other in silent conversation.
