Near my house is a street called Beatrice. I pass it frequently & have fallen in love with the name. It sounds so pristine - so Victorian.

Beatrice, in the painting, is like her name - a proper lady sitting quietly with her hands clasped in her lap. She is not at all the type to be on stage and seems to disappear beneath her cloud-patterned blouse & heavy curtain like ensemble.
